T he Morro Bay City Council meeting on Monday is extremely important for all of us who want a fenced, off-leash dog area in Del Mar Park.
Morro Bay Pups needs all dog-park supporters to attend the meeting and show their support and enthusiasm to the councilmembers.
The critical vote is to amend the master plan to include the fenced, off-leash dog area.
Morro Bay Pups is prepared to begin a major funding effort once we secure what we hope will be a positive vote.
Several accomplishments in the three-year existence of Morro Bay Pups are:
• Raised more than $10,000;
• Developed Morro BayPups.org, where membership applications may be downloaded; • Obtained nonprofit status through SLO POST;
• Designed a beautiful dog park through Jeff Meyer of Ecotone Environmental Design; and
• Received an enthusiastic endorsement by Morro Bay Parks and Recreation Commission to amend the master plan.
We also worked hard to
alleviate concerns raised by a few residents who live north of Del Mar Park.
Morro Bay Pups is extremely hopeful that the results Monday will allow us to proceed with a fundraiser and celebration early this fall. Board members Naida Simpson and Steve Eckis have had preliminary talks with the wonderful folks who own Tognazzini’s Dockside Restaurant, Mark and Bonnie Tognazzini.
